how to install rail tape - SUP

Protect your stand up paddleboard from chips and scratches with SUP rail tape. The tape is waterproof and virtually invisible once applied.

TIPS

  • Replace rail tape every six months or when worn
  • Pin price any air bubbled that appear on the tape
and push the air out to maximise the
adhesive bond.

EQUIPMENT

  • A clean cloth
  • Rail tape
  • Methylated spirits

Step 1:
Wipe down the rails with a cloth and methylated spirits. Cleaning any dust or grime will help the tape bond to the board. Make sure you do this in a well-ventilated area.

Step 2:
Determine your primary standing position and center the tape from that point. Mark out the starting point of the tape with a pencil.

Step 3:
Determine the centerline that runs along the edge of the rail from nose to tail. Use this as a guide to center the rail tape. Stick the tape on the mark made in step 2.

Step 4:
Starting with one end of the tape, slowly press the tape onto the rail and press out any air bubbles. Do this for the entire rail and repeat on the other side.
